GCSE Class Civ: Year 11

We follow the OCR specification, which involves the study of five different topics drawn from two broad areas that form the basis of the two GCSE papers:

Greek and Roman Civilisation

We study three topics in this area:

  Greek Religion

  Greek Athletic and Dramatic Festivals

  Roman Sport and Entertainment

Each topic is worth 20% of the overall mark, and this examination lasts 2 hours and 15 minutes. In the exam, students have to answer short questions and an essay on each topic.

Greek and Roman Literature

We study two topics in this area:

  Homer's Odyssey

Two plays by Euripides ~ Medea and Bacchae

This examination lasts 1 hour 30 minutes, and follows the same format as Paper 1.
